Obesity is present in 30-75% of women with PCOS. Adipose dysfunction (fat cell dysfunction) is associated with glucose intolerance and hyperinsulinemia, which in turn can exaggerate the manifestations of hyperandrogenism viz, hirsuitism, acne, hyperpigmentation and baldness.
